Review of Breaking the Waves (2014) by Joel H — 28 Jul 2008
Breaking the Waves is, in a word, humbling. It is a film with a lead performance that makes the phrase tour de force seem somehow inadequate. Gritty realism is merged with overt symbolism in order to create an unpredictable spiritual journey with a destination that is paradoxically both inspiring and disturbing.
