Review of Breaking the Waves (2014) by Joe H — 15 Mar 2010
Absolutly mind blowing. Found it compelling and yet harrowing enough to almost turn it off at the obsurdity portrayed on the screen which was brought across quite brilliantly realistic. Noticed one or two biblical references but im sure there was alot more in which I did not pick up on.
Von Trier's cnematography is in the face of the cast for the entirity of the film which makes you feel every single emotion from the ever brilliant Skarsgard and the flawless Watson. Gob smacked and exhausted by the end but totally worth it.
Not for everyones taste.
