Review of Breaking the Waves (2014) by Lee M — 21 Jul 2010
This is an astounding work. Emily Watson gives a performance that realizes the full potential of narrative film to capture time based art. Lars Von Trier made some of his best choices as a director. There is this point between chapters, a Jethro Tull song plays, and the exposure changes and with a single shot of a landscape, an entire emotional world is both illuminated and hidden further.
So brilliant.
