Review of Breaking the Girls (2013) by Roxanne R — 23 Nov 2013
Engaging, interesting and a great thriller! Bravo to the cast and crew of Breaking the Girls for this gem available on Netflix in HD. Sara (Agnes Bruckner) is a smart and promising law school student thanks to the scholarship that she earned but Brooke (Shanna Collins) is a wealthy and insecure socialite jealous of Sara because of her friendship with Brooke's boyfriend Eric (Shawn Ashmore).
Brooke gets Sara's scholarship revoked, forcing her to rely on the help of a stranger that shows more than a friendly interest on Sara. This stranger is Alex (Madeline Zima) who is more privileged than Brooke but has some skeletons in her closet.
Nevertheless one act causes a chain reaction that will connect and alter the lives of all these people and like a Hitchcock thriller, it will deliver some unexpected and surprising twists and turns! Written by Mark Distefano and Guinevere Turner and directed by Jamie Babbit, this is an entertaining thriller and may I add Alex's home was stunning! Filmed in Los Angeles, this movie compels me to visit more of Mulholland Drive and its secluded parks.
RECOMMENDED!!!
