Review of Breaking Away (1979) by Joe W — 02 Mar 2009
The main character, Dave Stoler is one of the most wonderfully weird creations I've seen in a film, an Indiana bicycle racer obsessed with being an Italian, despite having no Italian blood, so he instead shaves his legs, listens to Opera, talks in an accent, and lies to girls. What the hell? cool movie.
Also points for Dennis Quaid as the Alpha male of the group of small-town Indiana kids.
All in all a very good sports comedy with some exciting bicycle races and quirky characters that are quirky for a reason, not like stupid-[i]Juno[/i]-quirky.
