Review of Breaking and Entering (2006) by Steve D — 25 Nov 2007
Meh. Some remarkable moments of beauty in this tale are unfortunately hampered by moments of characters' frustrating stupidity - not just stupid acts that we raise our eyebrows at, but also things that real people just wouldn't do.
The "metaphor" thread was a nice touch and there's a couple of lump-in-throat moments towards the end, but the angst and rashness of some of the movie made it too overcooked for me. Anthony Minghella's still one of our best directors though, by far.
