Review of Breaking and Entering (2006) by Pierre S — 31 Mar 2013
The first time I saw it on big screen I forgot the title... but it left my son and I with a private joke "What was that movie again?" We couldn't remember the title or anything about it except that we had a compelling sense that we had seem something profound.
Seven years later I come across the movie by chance and knew immediately from the first minute that this was the "forgotten movie". Beautifully crafted and "emotionally edgy" (as another critic mentions) but if you knew what honesty entailed it couldn't help but leaving one uncomfortable. That''s because, in a world where we hide behind various constructions of ourself to weather the demands of our culture, this movie reminds of the beauty of being human. And that forgiveness is healing - and found in very few places on earth.
