Cillian Murphy confirms himself as one of the best screens actors around in a turn here that's comparable to John Hurt's Quentin Crisp. "Breakfast on Pluto" is familiar territory for director Neil Jordan; gender-bending, irish history, politics and terrorism - he did, after all, make "The Crying Game".

But tonally, the two films couldn't be more different, with "Pluto" being laced with magic realism and a very witty, if poignant, script. Genuinely moving, "Breakfast on Pluto" also delivers if you'd like to see a womble beat the sh*t out of someone or like to see a transvesitite fantasise about stopping an IRA bombing campaign in the style of Emma Peel.

The excellent Murphy aside, the supporting cast are also brilliant, with even Liam Neeson reminding us that he too can still be an excellent actor when he's not sleepwalking through Hollywood schlock.

Highly recommended.
