Review of Breakfast on Pluto (2005) by Jennifer N — 17 May 2008
As big of a fish as it is, the unassuming nature and honesty in the storytelling is always present. While this does make one feel at home and welcome despite how tall the tale gets, it also tends to make things single-noted at times.
The plot isn't sacrified for character, or vice versa, in fact the two consistently support each other. While the film has a slightly awkward air at times, that works to its advantage and reinforces the sincere and fanciful voice and vision. The film finds a way to touch your heart despite being flawed, which I suppose is the whole idea.
