Review of Breakfast on Pluto (2005) by Millo T — 19 Jun 2011
I understand that a lot of people consider this movie as a cult one, and a speech pro-freedom and the right to everyone to live as they want, and a defense of homosexuality and the dream of everyone to find his place in the world.
In that sense, this is a movie with good intentions. However, when you focus too much on a single group and the movie loses its ability to connect with universality, some of the message is weakening. In that sense, the character of Cillian Murphy, though well interpreted, is too extreme to be liked by others which are not great fans.
However, I defend that this movie (which mixes IRA conflict with the right to be different) could have been more interesting if it had focused on one issues more than another, and had created a more original script, sometimes less stereotyped.
