Review of Breakfast on Pluto (2005) by Kimk. — 15 Dec 2005
(Would have given it a 10 had the ancient sound system in the theatre at which we saw it not swallowed some of the more heavily accented dialogue.) Cillian Murphy is astonishing in this. His is the first drag performance I've seen that substitutes femininity for camp, and does so perfectly.
The film itself is well-paced and clever; if it has a flaw ("cloying," contrary to the critiques, isn't one of them), it's the lightness with which it touches on some very dark subjects.
