Review of Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) by Alison C — 25 Aug 2012
I finally decided to watch the whole thing, having never been able to get through it before. I still stand by my previous thoughts. Holly is such a terrible character. She's such a selfish person who doesn't take a moment to think about how her actions effect others. What kind of person lets their friend fall flat on her face drunk at a party? The only person she loves is her brother, and that's the only reason she loves Paul. Though she spends the whole movie stupidly chasing rich men. Yeah, I get that she's doing that for her brother, but it bothers the crap out of me. Yeah I get that the whole point is her personal growth of deciding to let other ppl (and a cat) into her life and her heart. I just find the journey there brutal. She's not as horribly obnoxious as Katherine Hepburn in Bringing Up Baby. But she's close. Oh, and Paul. Ug. He's so boring and bland. The only reason he's into Holly is because she's beautiful and actually has a personality.
(previous thoughts on this film).
Didn't bother to finish it. Hated Audrey's character. really annoying and quite the ho-bag. don't get me wrong, I like audrey a lot. I just was really bothered by this movie. I just wanted her to shut up! she's talks and talks and the guy his totally brainless and is like "huh huh huh okay baby, whatever you say". the rumor's are true. she is way too skinny in this movie.
