Review of Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) by Brett H — 14 Feb 2014
Honestly, quite overrated as a cinema classic and even though Audrey Hepburn is over-flowing with charm, she plays one of the most unlikable characters I've ever seen on film. Her materialistic, selfish, and gold-digging character is utterly horrible to everyone around her, but she's always having a good time; so we're meant to like her.
Audrey Hepburn really is fantastic in the role and her random actions and thoughts make it that much more entertaining to observe. There's also an incredibly pointless (and controversial) asian character played by Mickey Rooney that adds NOTHING to the plot.
The film isn't all bad and has some great music, occasionally funny scenes, and a solid romantic vibe, but in the end, it really doesn't amount to much.
