Review of Breach (2007) by Aaron J — 28 Mar 2010
A well made cat and mouse spy thriller, maybe a little slow for some but still it is not boring at all. The story is based on true events , which made the film more interesting, and although you knew how it ends, the film still keeps on the edge of your seat to see how was the process of catching the vetran spy.
But I guess what made the movie really exciting was the performances especially by Chris Cooper who delivered an award worthy clever performance portatying Robert Hanssen the man who fooled the American government for about 2 decades .
Cooper charisma dominates the screen in the first scene he appears in; Phillippe also gave a good performence, his best maybe since Crash, enriching the cat and mouse game on the screen and raising the tension.
The cinematography, the editing and the soundtrack were fine as well and suited the film style and atmosphere : dark, slow and suspensful.
