Review of Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017) by Niru D — 25 Mar 2018
If a film could be bipolar, this would be it.
The start of the film sets off on a very emotionally charged and realistic tone, however, all hell breaks lose the moment Vince Vaughn goes to jail and turns into the karate kid. The action make absolutely no sense, Vince Vaughn is able to break limbs, breaks backs and kill his enemies with so much ease that it makes the whole thing look like an SNL skit, the fighting is sub par, the dialog is messed up and there?s a drastic shift in tone compared to how the movie sets off. Let?s not even talk about the special effects (or the lack of them) and how piss poor the writing is.
This movie is over 2 hours long so please save your time and avoid!
