Review of Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017) by Muzz M — 27 Oct 2017
VV portrays a redneck blue-collar worker whose luck runs out and he winds up in a 3-tier prison system, convicted of running drugs. Each tier represents a different level of Hell and his actions cause him to be sent to all three.
His determination to protect himself and his pregnant wife serves a motivation to survive at all costs, until the ultimate Endgame backs him into a fatal corner. Well-choreographed, violent, head-turning fight scenes.
Dark, foreboding prison scenes. One of VV's best performances, and a good supporting acting job by Don Johnson as a sadistic, ruthless prison warden.
