Review of Bravo Two Zero (1999) by Jens B — 28 Jan 2008
Great war-movie - in the way that it's an ANTI war-movie.
Based on the book by Andy McNab, an SAS-team airlifts far into Iraq to destroy iraqi communications - but as usual in war, everything that CAN go wrong - WILL go wrong, as Murphy's law puts it.
They get compromised and attacked by mech infantry, fights back and start the long escape through the iraqi desert - and gets hit by the worst weather in decades!
Bean gives a realistic and scary idea what it is like to be a POW and when your own life is all that matters in the end.
The film is low-budget compared to Hollywood flicks, but this just adds on to the realism of the brutality.
Forget the US films of this war, watch this one instead.
