Review of Braveheart (1995) by John W — 07 Jan 2015
You're ability to enjoy this movie depends in large part on whether you want a history lesson out of it, and whether or not you can accept the changes made. If you can than I feel there is truly a ton to be admired within. So much, I would say that I, along with many others, consider it one of my all time favorite movies.
One of the parts of the film that often gets overlooked is that it does have genuine themes and character arcs. Such ideas being things like how it is both brains and heart in tandem that win out in the end, as well as how one who has the ability to act they cannot just "sit it out" so to speak if they want change to happen. As both William Wallace and Robert the Bruce learn by the end of the film.
