For what Braveheart tries to be it successfully achieves this. This movie is an epic and is based on the story of William Wallace. The Scottish in these times where being oppressed by England and the English thought that the Scottish where lesser people than them.
When William Wallace's childhood sweetheart is killed, he kills several foot soldiers as a result. This eventually turns into a war. Braveheart has some incredible battle sequences and incredible visuals.
The costumes and set designs also deserve praise because they greatly capture the period that the movie was set in.
