It simply could've been braver! I felt like the mother and daughter storyline hindered it from real ripe originality and darker themes that Pixar could've explored! The animation seems like its coming from a game rather than Scottish mythology and haphazard plot lines with bears do not do much to add to the overall impression.

Although Merida is feisty and entertaining not much goes to make her especially likeable or even memorable for that even. When i'm watching movies from pixar, with their track record, I expect it to take me to the point of no return.

Unfortunately great visuals in hair, and a fun sequence of a bear mom and daughter splashing in the waters don't take me there. Brave was simply cowardly.
