Review of Brave (2012) by Jeremy B — 18 Nov 2014
After the complete disaster of Braveheart, from historical inaccuracies & terrible accents, it's hard to trust any studio making a film concerning these fair Isles of ours. Surprisingly Pixar has mended some wounds with this brilliant animation set in the Highlands of Scotland.
It's another classic tale from Pixar yet again. I loved this movie from the beautiful animation of Scotland's beauty to the witty & hilarious script. Even the Scottish slang words are present which just made it even more authentic, even the phrase "Jinks, Crivvens help Ma Boab" made an appearance! I haven't heard or read that saying since I got my yearly Christmas present of The Broons or Oor Wullie! The film in essence is about the bond between mother & daughter.
This bond is questioned, as all mothers will testify, when the daughter hits a certain age & questions everything believing they know better! But this time the daughter's hissy fit has serious consequences for the whole family.
