Review of Bran Nue Dae (2009) by Huw G — 07 Mar 2010
A great kitschy, musical romp set in the West Australian outback, It never seeks to take itself seriously; its simple plot meanders left right and center and it only lightly glazes over colonial settlers' treatment of the Aborigines.
Magda Szubanski's servo lady's shameless come on to Geoffrey Rush's German priest is just hilarious moment. Also great cameo of the Chooky Dancers made famous by their fantastic rendition of the Zorba dance.
