Review of Brainstorm (1983) by David S — 08 May 2009
Douglas Trumbull is a special effects wizard but sucks as a director. Brainstorm was his second and probably last (he's still alive!) feature film, and though it isn't nearly as bad as Silent Running, Brainstorm is a muddle of half-formed ideas and characters.
The acting is as good as can be expected given the talent involved (why isn't Louise Fletcher in everything?), but the screenplay is a mess.
