Review of Brain on Fire (2017) by Jim B — 12 Jul 2018
I wonder how many people writing bad reviews for this movie ever dealt with the medical world through the process of being diagnosed with a rare disease. I found the movie right on with condescending doctors, doctors wanting to misdiagnosed to get rid of the patient, and doctors wanting to mistreat.
This movie was the reality of what us people with really rare diseases go through, although a little sugar coated in areas. Whether the story is true to what happened in this young women's life or not I can not say.
I assure you the process a person with a rare disease goes through to finally get a diagnosis would hit a nerve with all of us who have been through the process when watching this movie! The other thing the movie highlights is that one doctor who won't give up and believes in the patient until they do find that thing that is causing their illness.
For this I tip my hat to the movie makers because those doctors are out there too!
