Review of Brad's Status (2017) by Isabel A — 22 Sep 2017
A thoughtful and unforced reflection of life as seen through the vivid fantasies and turbulent musings of a post-middle aged father. The movie follows the introspective narratives of Stiller's character, who is in doubt of his own life's contribution and choices, as his son explores the beginnings of his.
The standard of the one's quest for recognition through wealth and status, versus the other's desire for meaning and connection, make for a profound contrast. The story does not intrude with preachy moralistic overtones, but instead, in the end answers Stiller's character with simplicity and meaning.
