Review of Brad's Status (2017) by F P — 14 Nov 2017
An annoying premise is given depth thanks to its slowly unfolding execution, and the sensitive way it probes at a lot of what is problematic about it.
Does that mean it's not problematic? Fuck no. Just because it is yet another film in which Ben Still finds himself exploring his own mid-life crisis angst amongst a group of people "younger yet wiser" than him does not mean this is without merit. Very strong performances all around, a narration which makes the film feel less like a walk through and more like a novel, means that it's a simple store, well told, but one you really needn't ever revisit.
