Review of Boyz n the Hood (1991) by Miguel M — 08 Aug 2012
John Singleton's very personal debut film about growing up in South Central Los Angeles. The film is based very much in truth of what LA and black culture was at the time. Singleton and the film deserve all the accolades it has received over the years, as it is a very important film of its time and place, even if many of the problems of LA portrayed in the film continue to persist.
Excellent drama with a good cast and solid direction from a very young Singleton.
