Review of Boyz n the Hood (1991) by Julian A — 21 Jan 2010
Out of all "hood" movies, this is by far the best. It shows the troubles and adversities of three inner city friends that struggle to survive in different ways. One of the friends(Ricky) tries to make it out of the ghetto by pursuing his athletic career in football.
"Dough Boy" accepts his life in the hood and lives everyday with his tough guy persona while watching his friends die right before his eyes. "Tre" throughout the entire movie see's what is going on around him and tries to convince his friends in to doing right by themselves; to not follow the ways of the "Gangsters" but soon finds himself in a crossroads where he has a choice.
to either pick up the steel,or let go of his anger and accept what happened to his friend.
