John Singleton has outdone himself with this gangsta-themed classic. The acting is superb from all of the actors.

The plot:

When Tre (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is expelled from his school, his mum makes him move to his dad, in Crenshaw. As soon as Tre get's to his Dad's house, he is forced to sweep the leaves, and that's when you know this is not gonna be a walk in the park for Tre. From that point on, Tre's friends, Doughboy (Ice Cube) & Ricky (Morris Chestnut), helps Tre out when he needs it, and Tre helps them back in return. But when bad things begin to happen, Tre doesn't know what to do. Join his gang of friends and help get revenge or stay home and do nothing.

What I think:

This film is very sad. Lots of tragedies, lots of emotional moments, lots of violence & lots of bad/foul language. Nevertheless this is a classic film, by far, this is John Singleton's best film. Ice Cube does an amazing job at his first shot at acting, this is also one of Larry Fishburne's best roles, and this is the best Cuba Gooding Jr. film I've ever seen.

Overall:

5/5 A classic hood-film, which will always be one of my favourite films. (Please note this review also appear on my Empire account and iTunes account).
