Review of Boys Town (1938) by Daniel P — 20 May 2008
Who can help bad boy Mickey Rooney? Surely, a bad apple like him, who fights, smokes, gambles and consorts with other boys of ill repute, is beyond salvation. Wait! Maybe, just maybe, wise Father Flanagan, with the help of the good-hearted boys of Boys Town (especially nauseatingly cute Pee Wee) can breach Rooney's hard exterior and show him that they truly care! Will it work? Only if life is a cliche-filled '30s movie.
