Review of Boys Town (1938) by Chris K — 18 Jan 2011
There is no way to really describe this film. There has never been anything else like it and there probably never will be.
It's very difficult to inject so much sentiment into a film and have it work. I can only think of this, Pollyanna, and Little Lord Fauntleroy. I'm forgetting a few, but my point is that it's rarely done well. This is one of them.
