Review of Boys Don't Cry (2000) by Nelson R — 07 Aug 2010
In this movie, the characters' stories unfold like a dirt road; it's bumpy and the potential to lose control threatens at every turn. Thankfully, the filmmakers and actors use this quality to its fullest.
Hilary Swank convincingly paints with the strokes of excitement and shades of fear that Brandon encounters in his new situation without missing the courage and ultimate anguish. I'm glad the film steered away from becoming a character study and focused on the relationships more than just on Brandon.
