Review of Boys Don't Cry (2000) by Chris Z — 05 Jan 2011
Hilary Swank came out of nowhere and this movie put her on the map. To this day her portrayal of Brandon Teena remains her best performance by far (along with Million Dollar Baby). It is a very sad, but inspiring film that will be remembered more in the future for content that as sad as it is, was ahead of its time.
In fact I don't think the mainstream media has caught up with the issues in this film, or will for a long time.
