Review of Boys Don't Cry (1999) by Adnan A — 19 Oct 2008
A shocking, horrific, and sad story with Hilary Swank delivering a great performance. This has to one of the toughest roles to act out, and Swank did it so naturally. The story is a very hard sell, and has enough disturbing bits to hurt its repeat viewing chances for me. However, it is well made and the acting by the cast was quite good. The film offers glimpse of how people can respond like animals to something misunderstood or different.
Overall, a very good film...Swank deserved her Oscar!
