Review of Boys Don't Cry (1999) by Brady S — 18 Dec 2011
Sometimes when a movie has such a clear "message" it can overshadow the movie and make it almost too preachy. I was worried that Boys Don't Cry would have that problem, and that is probably why it took me so many years to watch it.
Finally, I sat down and gave it a chance. Frankly, I was completely wrong in my misgivings towards this film. Yes, there is a message, a strong one. But what this does that movies like Crash don't is just tell a beautifully written, acted, directed and portrayed story the way that it happened and allows the viewer to come to the message on their own.
Needless to say I am very glad I watched this movie.
