Rather dull movie about relationships. 2 kids were squabbling on plane. They grow up to be Claire Forlani and Freddie Prinze Jr. Over the course of their school life, they met once or twice now and then.

At university, Freddie roommate is Jason Biggs who just want to hook up chicks. Claire roommate is Amanda Detmer. Claire and Freddie breakup with their steady and they met in the library and talk about it.

Amanda don't like Freddie but didn't want to hurt him. Claire lets him know. They meet again after summer and go out together frequently like friends. At a party, a girl hit on Freddie but he isn't interested.

Claire got a trash boyfriend. She felt that Freddie might be treating their friendship too used to it and treat her as a sub girlfriend which is making him not trying to go for relationship. He decide to date the girl.

Claire dump the guy when he got serious about the relationship. Freddie and Claire kiss and make love. Next morning, she just pretend it is nothing and tell him there's no need to tell his girlfriend.

But he did anyway and break up. He like Claire whereas she think she is afraid to lose him that's all. Claire graduate and is going to Italy. She find Freddie and they talks it out. Jason go find Claire and say Freddie isn't doing well and he got to know Amanda.

On the way to the airport, Claire change her mind and return. Jason and Amanda is having sex, he tells her Freddie is going back to LA. She board the plane and confess her love and are together.
