Review of Boyhood (2014) by Richard S — 06 Apr 2015
I thought this was quite an achievement. Without evening considering the script and story, I found it fascinating just watching the actors change over the years.
I can see how it wouldn't be to everyone's tastes but if you're a fan of Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise / Sunset / Midnight trilogy and that type of film making then I think you'll like this too. The second half of the film, as the boy becomes a teenager and then a man certainly resembles his trilogy as the character starts to wonder of his place in the world, just like the older Jesse and Celine do across 3 movies.
Also, great soundtrack that serves as a useful timeline throughout the film.
