Review of Boyhood (2014) by Anthony V — 15 Oct 2015
I wrongly assumed I was walking into another gimmicky film, a one trick pony where I would see actors age before my eyes and applaud Linklater for pulling off a great concept film. Instead I was greeted by a movie that had profound things to say about growing up in America in a broken home (or homes).
Instead of just being a gimmick, Linklater allows the aging of the characters to actually tell a story that couldn't be told any other way. This is another film where the cast gives incredible performances, making you forget that you're actually watching a motion picture.
Wow!
