Review of Boyhood (2014) by Cooper H — 25 Jul 2016
First off I do want to say this movie is fantastic. What makes this movie fantastic and what cannot be ignored is the process those involved took to make this film. Filmed over a 14 year period (somewhere in that range) the movie follows a young boy, and basically how he grows and what he encounters in life. It really hit home for me in some areas. I could relate and went through some things the boy went through. The movie could also be called life. It shows life evolving on the main screen and the relationships that are encountered along the way.
Now I thought more dramatic things could of happened, more themes could have been explored because really it just showed him growing up without a lot of MAJOR conflict. It was cool however to see the personality change, the relationships change, and how technology changed.
That was what was cool to me. Seeing how things evolved and how people change in time. No cell phones in the beginning to texting in the end as the norm. Very cool.
Hawks and Arquette were fantastic in this film.
The dedication to getting this film made the way the director wanted it to be made deserves a standing ovation.
