Review of Boyhood (2014) by Michael G — 01 Mar 2015
A tad caught-up in its hype, Boyhood still offers a swift landscape of a below-average childhood, but it lacks a certain "je-ne-sais-quoi" that could have helped in sprawl in a pure narrative sense.
Arquette is stellar, Hawke, though a tad creepy, is also, but Coltrane never seems to offer much in the way of his thoughts and Linklater, though good, doesn't have much time to exemplify that. It's still a classic, just for its premise, and it sure emulates reality, although not the average one, but it's still worth a watch.
