Review of Boyhood (2014) by Chris B — 13 Mar 2017
Misnamed, since the "boyhood" part is only 1/3 of the film. To quote Red Letter Media "terrible, awkward, cringe inducing dialogue, flat boring cinematography, no story to be invested at all in, plus a boring lifeless character we all end up hating in the end.
" Wait, it took 12 years to make! Which is interesting, but as much a gimmick as CGI. I mean TV shows can take much longer. Most of all the movie is predictable.A movie where every male figure that tries to teach "discipline" is a "bummer" (and often an alcoholic).
Only is "cool" Dad is worthy of passing on "advice." Lots of people are p[raising Patricia Arquette. Outside of the wonderful scene where she breaks down, her performance is wholly unremarkable.
Then there is the last three minutes, where our "hero" meets a cool college roommate who right after meeting him gives him drugs, takes him out to a national park, along with a single hot female, cause you know it is better to just float through life.
What a joke.
