Review of Boyhood (2014) by Everett — 30 Jan 2015
Besides editing, what this movie needed was good writing. It seems a shame, after having such a truly original concept, and a cast willing to come back year after year, that the filmmaker couldn't have come up with a well-told, crackling story and unique characters.
What could have been great was, instead, an overlong gimmick played out with stereotypes. Like others here, I wish it had been a documentary rather than this. Left alone, life writes better stories.
