Someone else has written 'Concept A; Execution C-': I concur. The film was definitely not about boyhood, it was hardly about the boy, but rather it concerned the flaws of it's adult characters.
What's worse is that the performances from these adults seemed forced and ungrounded - they didn't ring true. Quite unlike the truthfulness in Lorelei Linklater's performance and the calm charismatic presence of Ellar Coltrane - I wish the camera followed and lingered rather more on Mason.
I wished more for actual boyhood. Very disappointing film, sorry.
