Review of Boyhood (2014) by Jonas C — 07 Jul 2017
I really wanted to like this movie. I was sorely disappointed. From the beginning the pace is incredibly slow, and it seems there is no plot other than to watch these kids age before our eyes. That was truly the only hook for me, and it wasn't enough to make me like this film.
Some of the dialogue seems so strained. There were two parts of the film I found interesting. The first when we realize Bill is an alcoholic and abusive. But the family leaves him and poof, it's like it never happened.
The years don't seem to intertwine or impact each other, which to me doesn't depict real life at all. I'm shocked this has as high ratings as it does. Definite skip if you ask me.
