Review of Boyhood (1951) by Joanna N — 17 Nov 2016
Undoubtedly a feat of filmmaking, but I'm not convinced that the end product is as effective as the effort merited. Patricia Arquette is phenomenal and her character is the most interesting. The protagonist on the other hand is a passive, superficial character who seems to react very little to some of the key dramatic moments in his life.
This was the failing of the film for me; all that work to show his development but you only see the effect on his mother, not on the lead character himself.
