Review of Boy Wonder (2010) by David H — 01 Jun 2012
I was very impressed with this movie's excellent execution. The acting was fantastic, especially from lead Caleb Steinmeyer. What was intriguing about this film was the extent to which Sean goes to exorcise his demons.
Every sequence is very well done and well shot. Director Morrissey has this flair for darkness and shadow that truly suits the mood and the character beautifully. While other characters are bathed in light, Sean is always in darkness.
While I didn't take much away from any kind of need for reform within our justice system, which is really only touched upon once or so, I did really enjoy Det. Teresa Ames's "by the book" approach, while Sean skirted outside of the law.
Very interesting. Some parts were predictable, for me (I guessed it somewhere around the middle of the second act), but how it was delivered to me was where I enjoyed it. The thing I'll remember the most from this film was the emotion that was packed into it.
Really outstanding.
