Review of Boy Erased (2018) by Mike V — 18 Nov 2018
Russell Crowe is good, Nicole Kidman is fine. Lucas Hedges, however, was terrible. At no point during the film was it even remotely believable that Hedges was gay, he lacked chemistry with every other gay character in the film including during his first sexual encounter and when he found a husband.
He was illustrating what a gay person should do. The film also suffers from another problem in that the subject isn't that interesting of a person, and his story is trite, predictable, and borning.
If it weren't for early Oscar buzz, no one would see this film.
