Review of Boy Erased (2018) by Brent_Marchant — 17 Nov 2018
A well-made fact-based drama that effectively skewers the fallacy of conversion therapy without becoming shrill, resorting to cliches or getting tied up in rhetoric either before or against the idea. With fine performances by Lucas Hedges, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Joel Edgerton, the film delivers a solid, well-told story, full of empathy, sincerity and heart by all concerned while exposing a sham treatment for what it sadly is.
This strong awards season contender is sure to give many other laudable releases a run for their money.
