Review of Boy Erased (2018) by Gaston M — 02 Nov 2018
Sentimental expose of conversion therapy, drowning in syrup music, teary eyed guitar plucking and an incoherent storytelling. Despite some marginal moments from the leads (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe), this film is 20% dialogue and 80% travelogue, and the lead actor is a complete blank.
Minor characters left dangling in space, no serious attempt at continuity and you have a deadly experience in what should have been compelling and provocative. Too bad.
