Review of Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number! (1966) by Allan C — 30 Dec 2014
This film made the ignoble list of films in the book "The Fifty Worst Films of All Time (and how they got that way)." I'm not convinced it's as bad as "Plan 9 from Outer Space" or "The Room," but it's certainly not a good film and a far cry from Bob Hope's best films, which are actually quite good.
Bob made a series of terrible comedies in the 1960s and this one is probably the worst. Elke Sommer plays an actress who wants to be taken seriously and not for her bubble bath scenes, so the quotes and goes into hiding in Oregon (though not filmed in Oregon).
She then connects up with realtor Bob Hope who suggests she hides out in his cabin, but wackiness ensures as he tries to keep her hiding out there a secret from Hollywood, his wife and his suspicious housekeeper, Phyllis Diller.
Bob doesn't have very many funny one liners and the situations aren't all that funny either. Stick with some of his Road pictures or the "Lemon Drop Kid" instead.
